Baaya in the local Indian language refers to the Indian weaver bird that weaves its nest in a unique way. It’s events like these that give us bloggers to experience artistic creativity and passion for one’s craft so closely and also witness the output in the form of ethereal and gorgeous craftsmanship in the form of folk art paintings, artifacts, and art furniture having folk art form across India which stands true to what BAAYA rightfully says – “This is the place where design meets tradition!

Out of the amazing and creative collection I saw, one thing, which stood out for the lioness in me, was the special Manipuri Royal stone pottery called ‘Ling Po’. This stoneware is said to be used from the times of the kings & queens. The beautiful black stone pottery, is safe to be used in the microwave too, could ask for anything more? 🙂
The Founder and CEO of Baaya design, Ms. Shibani Jain was kind enough to take us through their vast and commendable collection with as much love right till the last one! I got to chat up with her personally and here’s what she had to say –
Me – Since this business requires a lot of creativity what is your source of inspiration or ideation germ?
Ms. Shibani – When I travel to different parts of India. There are so many things which grab my attention. The country has so much to offer in terms of skill set, talent, material, geographical and cultural inputs etc. I always find it very interesting to watch these artisans at work. And that’s where I derive my inspiration from – The Artisans. Each and every artisan has so much different to offer from different parts of our country. They are so intricate & excellent at what they do, and they completely inspire me.
Me – For anyone who wants to place orders with you, how much time does it usually take for you to deliver the final product?
Ms. Shibani – Right from finalizing the designs to making the required artifact, it takes upto 4-5 weeks depending on the quantity or the size of the project. If it is just an art or a simple product, then that is ready in 2-3 weeks.
Me – For all those staying a little out of reach or far, how do you make your gorgeous products available for them to glance through the designs for selection?
Ms. Shibani – We usually design once we are commissioned, but at the prior stage we ideally send them all our ample designs, products which can be seen on our websites as well easily – www.baayadesign.com
