Happy World Interiors Day everyone
28th May is officially celebrated as World Interiors Day and with that we have one dedicated day to be happy about the spaces that we have created for our loved ones and ourselves. This day also makes me want to plan for some DIY home-décor ideas that will transform my home and help me break away the monotony and surprise myself once in a while. After all, re-inventing is the key. This World Interiors Day I was so happy and excited to be a part of a unique workshop held by Asian Paints at their Signature Store on Hill Road, Bandra that was helmed by Shruti Gupte, a well-known production designer from Bollywood.
The Asian Paints workshop was all about film inspired home décor ideas that can be easily applied in real life too. This is just the beginning as Asian Stores have planned some amazing meet-ups with like-minded people for them to get-together and find the perfect and apt choice for their home decor that comes to life with the right professional help. Shruti Gupte took us through an exhilarating and an interesting journey through the films that she’s personally worked on as a Production Designer and created some memorable interiors through the sets. The theme for the day was “Intelligent and Inspirational Interiors, from Silver Screens to your Home”. It is indeed amazing how much research and studying a particular character is required to get them a perfect room or interiors that will stand in sync with their personality.
Shruti took us through the film journeys of Aisha, Taare Zameen Par, Khoobsurat, Lunch Box, etc to name a few and how she derived to designing rooms inspired by each character from the film be it their office spaces, romantic date set-ups or bedrooms. She brought forward a fresh perspective of how you and me can design our spaces taking inspiration from our most loved and favourite films. With Asian Paints, being experimental and thinking out of the box is the key to making your spaces lively and creative.
Towards the end of the workshop with Asian Paints on World Interiors Day, we all were a part of an impromptu mood board creation activity based on our individual choices and likes of home décor. This is how my home décor mood board looked like. Full of colours, some floral touch, fluorescent curtains and an artistically drawn tree of life with deep blue welcoming steps.
Making our homes the way we have always dreamt of is a big deal and Asian Paints helps you turn these wishes into a reality. Afterall, home is where memories reside and with every step of the way, you should have corners and rooms that speak of your personality and choices. Shruti also mentioned an important point to remember while decorating your houses – separate your rooms with distinctive colours and warm lighting. Lighting indeed plays a big part in your home décor and mild yellow lighting brings in a lot of warmth and an innate feeling of love. I for one am a big fan of lighting up few specific corners of my bedroom with mild and easy on the eyes light. It brings so much happiness and lifts up the mood instantly.
Drop by at the Colour Signature Store of Asian Paints on Hill Road, Bandra (W) on this World Interiors Day for some inspirational home decor ideas that will change your spaces and take you a step closer to your dreams.
