I’ll start by quoting Rumi’s magical words – “Shine like the whole universe is yours!”.And when you are all set with being happy, content and confident also remember to make your spaces your own and add a little zing you have within to your humble abode too. Afterall, nothing reflects more accurately about a person’s personality than the way he keeps his home. And by that I don’t mean that one should have spent big bucks on interiors or home design. In fact, it is just the opposite. Staying updated with trends, reading up a lot about people who have themselves undergone home design or changes of their interiors and you can also take inspirations using these simple, effective and head turning DIY tips and tricks that will not only make your homes happy but trendy too. And the best part is that you get to add in a bit of your personality to your most favourite spots in your homes.
I am such an avid reader and a researcher when it comes to home design and trends that transform your homes just by doing the usual things slightly differently. Especially when we just got our home re-designed recently and I was the brain behind these trendy hacks!!! So from the December of 2015 to the present, here is my absolute must have list of owning at least one of these design trends. Your homes need to be replenished and refurnished with the most chic and classy trends that will be here to stay throughout 2016.
Glance through my personal favourites and tell me which Home Design made you ponder over and made you travel ahead of time into your favourite corner.
- Black Stainless Steel – Plain Jane stainless steel is such a story of the past now. Stainless steel often is known to ruin the look of your living room and kitchen too and is found Indian homes in bathrooms in the form of taps fittings. But have a glance at what Black Stainless Steel can do to the look of your home design. If dark colour isn’t your game then you could opt for a stainless steel structure in many lighter shades too. Nowadays many electronic brands produce coloured stainless steel products in such a wide range. This is one trend that is going to stick in 2016 and for the years to come. Also, darker the shade, less chances of scratches and marks being seen. So the next time you are about to shop for any appliance do keep an eye for these texture finishes.
- Perky Pedestals – Time to find your sparest corner and to jazz up the look of your room completely. Add in there a tall and slim pedestal that can probably carry few books or even a vase. Time to do something completely unconventional in 2016 with respect to the trends in home design and décor. The usual and safest bet would be to keep a shoe rack in the passage of your living room or a chair in the spare space of your bedroom. Time to say bye-bye to your regular choices and opt for some easy breezy corner pedestals. And no need to spend monies on this one. Just keep an eye on something unusually catchy on your next flea market visit.
- The Learning Tree – This innovative trendy home design combined with children’s learning concept I had first seen at my cousin’s place in London. So the concept and idea behind this learning tree is that you along with your kids paint a tree on the wall, of course in the kid’s bedroom. You just paint the bark and the branches, you don’t paint the leaves. Then you explain to your kids that how every time they do something they love or if they finish reading a poem, etc they can paint leaves on it. For example, if your son finishes the piano lesson, then he gets to paint a leaf. Slowly as the years pass by, you and your kids will notice the fuller tree that will stand in unison of their talent, hard work and achievement. It will also teach your kids the importance of being together with family and celebrating even the smallest of their victories.
- Dual Toned Kitchen – Whenever next you are set to redesign your kitchen, make sure to definitely check out this brand new European trend that’s doing the rounds and for more reasons than one. Whether it is your kitchen tiles or the cabinets and the drawer below, remember to only keep two colour tones for the kitchen. This will add so much of depth and grace to the space and also lift up the ambience. A small tip – Remember to go for lighter shade for the top portion and a darker shade for the lower half of the kitchen area.
- Mix Up The Bling – This goes out for all the lovers of metals that yearn for a little bling in their lives!! Take all of your favourite blingy colours like gold, silver, copper and add them all together either in one statement furniture of your room or on one wall or keep them at one corner together if there are many pieces and Wallah!!! The outcome will be grand and royal that transforms your home into a trendy little piece for yourself!! This is one trend that will not only stick throughout of 2016 but it will also be a favourite one to pass on to those generations to come. Imagine redoing a cupboard with these three metallic shades and turning them into funky designer home interior. Just make sure that all the shades you use are metallic, that’s all.
- Statement Mirrors – Ladies and Ladies and even the men, make way for some exceptional mirrors that will not only just reflect your awesomeness but they will also adorn your favourite corners that speaks volumes of you. So make sure to pick out your statement mirrors as per your personality or moods or your own personal zing!!! Try adding a layer of big lashes that can be placed just above your round mirrors (they need to be a set of two mirrors for uniformity). And just like that your regular mirror becomes a statement mirror. You could also consider painting some gorgeous flowers or petals keeping the mirror as the center point. Instead of spending big bucks on big décor options that may not work out as per your exact needs, trying to amp up what you own already in a way that it becomes a head turner is a more suitable option. These statement mirror trends are going to just get more and more popular as we swoosh by the first quarter of 2016 in STYLISH & TRENDY happy homes!!
