Sideways Inn Holiday In Buellton, California

Planning a trip to California? You should definitely add this amazing place called Buellton from Santa Barbara in California to your list. Trust me, you’ll thank me later. Usually, Buellton is a common stop for travelers who are on the road from the U.S. Highway 101 and this will definitely be a refreshing change to your Cali itinerary. Other than being one of the the fastest-growing towns in central Santa Barbara County it also has been a popular shooting location for the film called “Sideways” (2004) in a hotel which is now popularly known as “Sideways Inn” owned by Highway West Vacations and we were lucky enough to get to stay here. Yayyy!!!

Firstly, because both Salman & me were in awe of the property just by looking at the pictures and secondly because it came highly recommended on almost every major travel website. Highway West Vacations properties are known to give you everything that you dream your ideal holiday should include. I believe they take your holiday dreams a notch higher and turn them into memorable realities for sure. Right from RV camping, to boutique hotels and glamping, they are the leading experts in the industry when it comes to 360 degree holidaying experiences. One such beautiful and hands down the best property in the whole of Buellton, is “Sideways Inn” which is set in the Santa Ynez Region just off Highway101. Their easy accessibility is one of the main plus points amongst many other things. You can choose to drive down there which is again a scenic ride right along the Pacific Ocean or like us take the Amtrak train (from LA) which also rides along the same Pacific Ocean giving you a different experience altogether. We loved sitting on the upper deck that gave such breath-taking views of the clear blue Pacific Ocean. From L.A. you can get down the Amtrak in Santa Barbara and from there the bus drops you right in Buellton. We found this to be really quick and easy means of transport.

The Sideways Inn Resort

On arrival at Sideways Inn we were greeted by such warm, ever smiling and friendly faces that you immediately know for a fact that this is going to be a kick-ass vacay. We also stayed in the best room available on their property – the “King Bed Spa Suite”. Apart from being a huge spacious suite, it also boasts of all the modern amenities you could dream of. Did I mention this suite comes with its own “jetted tub”?? Yeah, you heard that right!! Imagine sipping on the best Santa Ynez wine while chatting away with your partner in your own personal Jacuzzi that can fit the two of you easily with more room to hold your cheese!!:)

I truly believe that if you want to breathe in and experience the true history of this well-known wine country, then there cannot be a more apt choice than “Sideways Inn”. The locals too are so very welcoming and friendly and by talking to few drivers, I felt we need to keep coming back here. An ideal peaceful, scenic getaway for sure!!

What the two of us loved the most about Sideways Inn was also the huge property which only meant more romantic evening walks or even jogs in the fresh air of Buellton. They have continental breakfasts included in the package and the breakfast room is conveniently located on the ground floor. We also had some of the best meals in the premise of their sister resort “Flying Flags” by their Fireside, an Outdoor Fire Pit that has a smoke free fire!! Ain’t that cool??

I highly recommend the sweet potato fries and their chicken salad + cheese dips!! I feel sad we couldn’t use their pool since we were there during winter and it was colddddd AF… brrrr!! Not to mention their “Sideways Lounge” which is a swanky new and renovated bar, fondly known as the most upbeat and famous hangout place amongst the locals. Our cabbie got excited just hearing about our stay there!! A HOT FAVOURITE amongst the locals for sure and for good reasons.

Sideways Inn also has such easy access to all the main and popular attractions and destinations. Don’t miss out on the popular wine tasting at a local winery, the ostrich farm, Los Padres National Forest and a walk down the beautiful town of Solvang that looks straight outta a storybook. 🙂 We started our day with an unforgettable breakfast at Ellen’s Danish Pancake House which is again a hot favorite of the locals.

It is just at a 2 minutes walking distance from Sideways Inn. There will always a big queue especially on weekends for their freshly made pancakes with white butter and syrups all freshly whipped in their kitchen. My personal favorite was their blueberry pancakes with eggs.

Solvang, Little Denmark in California

Every single day of our stay here, we were exploring the cute streets of Solvang that were surprise packed around every corner. Freshly baked Danish cakes and breads, cute eateries, cake shops and windmills, will all transport you to a Danish heaven!!

Just before heading out back to Los Angeles we decided to stop at the ostrich farm where we got to see a whole bunch of ostriches and emus. We even got a chance to feed some of them :). Cannot wait to get back here “Sideways Inn” Buellton for yet another Cali holiday!!! The best stay you can find in the entire area!
