Fresh Take On Traditions By Shamiana, Taj Mahal Palace

Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai recently re-opened the new and revamped Shamiana that is an all day dining restaurant. Shamiana goes all the way back to 1973 and it has always been an iconic destination which now caters for international casual food. I still remember my parents always describing their happy culinary tales from Shamiana. This all-new Shamiana is a total delight that retains all the traditions of Taj hospitality. It is located at the exact same location in the lobby on the right side as soon as you enter and is open 24 hrs.

What I like the most about it is its laid back ambience, comfort food and its informal styling. One could walk in shorts at Shamiana and you will be welcomed with open arms. This was one of the highlights for my BAE (who is also the official photographer of my blog). Here’s his link incase you want to check out his work. These photographer’s I tell ya 😉

For the Shamiana Starters

Double Baked Camembert Cheese Soufflé – Shamiana Restaurant, Taj Mahal Hotel, Colaba

Double Baked Camembert Cheese Soufflé – This twice baked or double baked cheese soufflé is a goldenish looking piece of heaven! It looks quite filling and heavy but with the apt potions serves two people just right.

Superfood Salad - Shamiana Restaurant, Taj Mahal Hotel, Colaba

Superfood Salad – A super delicious and highly nutritious salad made with quinoa, lettuce and sweet potato.

Caesar Salad – Shamiana Restaurant, Taj Mahal Hotel, Colaba

Caesar Salad – We didn’t try this salad since we don’t eat pork but those who tried didn’t wanna try anything else from the starters.

Shamiana Comfort Mains

Fish Exotica – Shamiana Restaurant, Taj Mahal Hotel, Colaba

Fish Exotica – One of my personal favourites (it has been declared so many times on this platform my love for fishiessss ;-)) A spicy, appetizing and a fresh mix of ingredients with fish fillets.

Chicken Schnitzel Burger – Shamiana Restaurant, Taj Mahal Hotel, Colaba

Chicken Schnitzel Burger – If you like pounded meat coated with eggs and flour, which is then fried (that’s how typically schnitzels are made), then you will definitely dig this dish.

Chicken Lababdar – Shamiana Restaurant, Taj Mahal Hotel, Colaba

Rajma Masala – A perfect traditional Indian delight.

Chicken Lababdar – This is a Mughlai delicacy, which is little lesser known, but you know its magic once you have tasted it at Shamiana.

Roast Chicken Basket – Shamiana Restaurant, Taj Mahal Hotel, Colaba

Roast Chicken Basket – This yum roast chicken basket comes with a side dish of potato wedges. This dish had such a flavourful chicken with crispy skin.
