Our trip to the queen of hills will always be memorable for more reasons than one especially if you are a fan of the cold weather and want to stay in a place that is nestled in hills, then Mussoorie will leave you enchanted and in awe of its beauty. Mussoorie is well connected from all the major metros in the country via railways, roads and airways. Since we had a small vacation in Dehradun before this we decided to head over to Mussoorie via road. It took us two hours to reach Mussoorie and the hotel that we picked was Mussoorie Gateway resort, which is situated at the library bazaar and five minutes from the mall road.
The Mussoorie Gateway Resort is a beautiful property with friendly staff, great amenities and a very budget friendly hotel.

Mussoorie Gateway Resort is just off the main Mall road and you will be directed to its parking lot on the left side of the hill. Despite the fact that it is situated right on the road, the resort is calm, away from the rush of the market and it is situated within the serene hills. The icing on the cake is that the resort provides free pick up and drop to the mall for as many times as you want. We stayed in the Jasmine room and all the other rooms are divided based on the different names of the flowers. The rooms are super spacious, airy, clean and they come with their own extended balconies with splendid views of the hills and clear skies to wake up to. The hotel provides heaters at a cost but if your trip is longer than 3 days I recommend buying one from Mall road on your first trip there as it will be the cheaper option. Regardless definitely get the heater if you are going during Winter as it can get really cold. They have Wi-fi service for the rooms but it wasn’t very reliable due to the weather. The bathroom was clean, well stocked with essentials and the room had hot water 24/7.
The in-room dining is quick and the staff is very courteous and well spoken. We preferred eating our breakfast in the balcony with mild sunlight keeping us warm through the chilly mornings of February. Yes the temperature dipped to -2 degrees as well during our stay.
There are plenty of places to eat at the Mall road but when you are tired from a long day of sightseeing all you want to do kick back your feet and relax. The food at Mussoorie Gateway Resort was prepared in an authentic gardhyali way. These meals are spicy and cooked with seasonal spices. We were honestly surprised at how well the food tasted. They have a walkway from their reception that leads you to the Restaurant area perfect for morning teas and lunches for bigger groups.
The restaurant has a very homely feel to it, which is situated, right in the lap of nature surrounded by hills. It is an experience to have your early morning cuppa here. Even if you get rooms on the ground floor you still will be right on top of a hill as the hotel is situated at a height and this is not your regular ground floor rooms. Above the Restaurant Area is a cozy nice terrace where the hotel organises bonfires on request and has a wonderful view of the valley specially at sunset.
The parking starts on the top floor, one floor down is the reception area and where we stayed (first floor) and then the ground floor which also on top of the hill so it’s technically at a height. But we would suggest you to book first floor views for unobstructed views.
All your must visit and foodie corners like lovely omlet centre, the little llama café, clocktower café, kalsang etc are all located on the mall road and five minutes away from the Mussoorie Gateway Resort. Our overall experience with the Mussoorie Gateway Resort was excellent with a complete value for money. We definitely look forward to our next stay here.
