Bandra is always the first option for all my party and hangout scenes for two reasons – I’m a Bandraite and all my favourite places are in or around Bandra. Yes along with it being my most special place in the city, it also sees me partying hard and work harder trying to make the most of the beautiful Bandra spaces for my shoots too. Kanpai Lounge And Bar gave me another reason to stay put right here in Bandra and party like never before with amazing Japanese food, cocktails served by Ninjas and feet tapping music by your side.
Kanpai Lounge and Bar is located at Suburbia Mall on Linking Road, Bandra West and the lip-smacking Japanese Cuisine is specially prepared under the guidance of Chef James Biaka. He’s known to add his own zing to the traditional Japanese Izakaya style of eating and drinking. What I loved the most about this place is the involvement the Chef has every step of the way and the complete presentation that the lounge puts together for an experience in itself. All the anime fans in the house are in for a visual treat right from the entrance of Kanpai Lounge And Bar. The storyboards on the wall, the katanas and the Japanese artworks take you to another world altogether.
These are some of the most deliciously unforgettable dishes and cocktails we relished on. Glance through them and plan one get-together session with your buds soon.
- Yellowtail Carpaccio/Hamachi Carpaccio – The raw white fish with jalapeno dipped in spicy suace, is a perfect Japanese starter to start the night with!
- Spicy tuna roll – This was one of my most favourite dishes. The fish eggs on the top of the tuna roll made for a perfect dining affair.
- Tuna And Avocado Tar Tar – This dish comes so beautifully decorated that it broke my heart to even try and cut it. The rice puffs mixed with tuna and avocado mixed in soya sauce are a cut above the rest.
- Grilled Belgium pork with asparagus – I didn’t try this dish, but those how did, swore by this being one of the most favourite pork dishes.
- Scallops in dynamite sauce – Scallops in red hot dynamite sauce is a total feast for all the seafood lovers like me. Goes well with most of the cocktails at the Kanpai Bar and Lounge.
- Chilli garlic Edamame (veg) – This was one dish that was loved by both vegetarians and non-vegetarian lovers. The chilli sauce was so well marinated that one couldn’t stop munching on these.
- Scallop and prawns dim sums – Those of you who prefer small yet healthy bites, must definitely opt for scallops and prawns dimsums. I liked the spicy chilli sauce that came with it.
- Cristal vegetable dim sum (veg) – Mixed veggie delight and the potions are light and yummy!!
- Crispy prawns cheung fun – Another unique dish where the prawns were crispy and had a soft rice coating both at once. Dipped in soya sauce for a perfect palette.
This happy, chirpy and a vibrant hangout is an experience in itself. With traditional Japanese food by your side and some awesome cocktails made by our very own personal ninjas, Kanpai Lounge should be on your list of must dos. The Kanpai Lounge And Bar has comics and stories embedded on its walls by the very renowned Japanese artist Shohel Emura, reproduced in Manga style.
Kanpai Lounge And Bar serves very healthy, nutritious and tasty Japanese food with authentic spices and ingredients. Come be a part of Bandra’s very own glimpse of the Nebuta Festival in Japan.
