Experience Iftaari This Ramadan at Grand Hyatt
Every Ramadan brings along with it a lesson to remember that takes me back to my childhood days. I remember both my parents telling me and my siblings about how important it is to give up food and water for few hours so that we know its importance and we never take even the smallest of small things in life for granted. The tradition of giving and helping those who are less fortunate should continue not just in Ramadan but also for the entire year. Ramadan truly brings together so many people from different cultures as Iftaari food is loved by one and all. The traditional iftaari khaana connects so many hearts and it gives us one more special reason to celebrate. For those who fast, being joined in by people who don’t for iftaari means double the celebrations and joys.
Most of the times at our home, two hours prior to the Iftaari, time goes in preparing the dishes and at times it can get hectic with the fasting and tending to guests all at once. So when I heard about the Ramadan Iftaari celebrations at Fifty Five East Restaurant of Grand Hyatt Mumbai, I was so looking forward to planning an evening with my friends and family. We finally got there just in time for the Iftaar and such a huge spread of all the traditional Iftaari mix welcomed us right from the entrance.
You name an iftaar dish and they had it covered. Right from some mouth watering onion rings, potato and vegetable bhajiyaas, kheema samosas, skewered chicken, tandoor, fish fries, steamed and barbequed and so many more options, they had it all under their special Iftaar Spread. It was one grand Iftaar Dawat and the best part is, it will be on right upto the chaand raat, i.e. all the way till Eid. It genuinely felt like we are doing our Iftaari at our home itself and we also got a chance to interact with the fellow “rozdaars” (people who observe fast during Ramadan) from so many different cultures and countries.
I was in love with 2 sections of Fifty Five East – the dry fruits and Middle East Counter. Right from hummus to all the fruits that have a cooling effect on your system post Iftaar, they all were a part of this special menu. It is indeed great when everyone comes together to celebrate a festival, occasion or an achievement. Trust me, fasting is truly an achievement in itself and post successfully completing it, you get an inner satisfaction. It brings a smile on my face to even remember about all the miniscule detailing Grand Hyatt paid attention to while planning for Iftaari sessions for their patrons every single day. The chaat corner had all our usual favourites right from the paani-puris to sev purisa and bhel.
For desserts two of my most loved Ramadan quintessential ones were there amongst so many other options – Mitti Ke Bartan Ki Kheer and Ice-cream Falooda!!!! Good food, great company, a fulfilled fasting day and so much contentment. Take a bow Grand Hyatt Mumbai to making this a huge success!!
