Day 1 – The Deltin In-Room Dining Experience

We actually didn’t realize how time just whizzed by us on our day 1 Daman trip. We realized so much so when it was past 9 pm and we had to head for dinner. It was decided within less than few seconds that it’s gonna be an in-room dining session for the tired us. The amount of travelling and overall time taken to reach there wasn’t much at all. But we had an eventful and a hustling day juggling between shoots, wandering through the humongous ‘The Deltin’ property and then heading back to loads and loads of new shoots just for you guys.

Relaxed and ready to munch 🙂

The head Chef Mayur was kind enough to give us an unforgettable in-room dining with a yummylicious spread of Asian Cuisine and freshly squeezed Watermelon and Mosambi juice.

Next in our  In-Room Dining service we were presented with some amazing and tasty appetizers from Wok.

  • Crispy Spinach, Corn and Water Chestnut

Crispy Spinach, Corn and Water Chestnut Boat

We started the meal with one of my most favourite starters, which also becomes a munching snack at times. But I must admit that the addition of water chestnut gave this dish a refreshing twist.

  • Chicken Satay

Skewered, grilled and a well marinated chicken that literally melts in your mouth, would still not do enough justice to how heavenly the chicken satay tasted. An addition of peanut butter and sauce of our choice made this into a grand Thai dish.

  • Saigon Marinated Grilled Fish

Infused with lemongrass marinade and fish sauce, I had this starter with my main course as well. You can actually eat it with your noodles too. Again, the medium palette was perfect for our taste buds.

Salad :

We decided to order Thai Raw Papaya Salad, which had a very mixed sweet and tangy taste. Make sure to include this in your Thai meals next time.

Can any Asian meal be complete without including the ever-so-famous dim-sums??

These came highly recommended from the Chef :

  • Mushroom Ginger Dimsums

The dimsums had a hint of ginger paste towards the end and it actually broke the monotony of the regular options of dimsums we usually end up ordering.

  • Prawn Hargao Dimsums

These were perfectly steamed and slightly spicy which we for a change thoroughly enjoyed as the taste balanced itself with the cover of dimsums. Heaven!!!!

Burmese Khowsey Soup –

This is again one of the most famous one-dish meals with noodles, vegetables curry and coconut milk. It has refreshing and strikingly vibrant flavours that make you crave it even more. Plus have a look at all the toppings that came with it!!!!

Main Course :

  • Prawns In Sichuan Pepper –

This dish had a citrusy and a woodsy aroma that doesn’t feel spicy at all, instead it actually melts in your mouth with the first bite itself.

  • Tofu With Shitake Mushroom In Chilli Garlic Sauce –

I remember emphasizing on ordering the tofu with shitake simply because we had covered a lot of fish and chicken varieties. And my oh my!! I couldn’t be more happier as the superbly marinated mushroom with tofu bathed in chilli garlic sauce had it’s own exotic taste.

Rice & Noodles :

  • Steamed Jasmin Rice
  • Hakka Noodles With Vegetables

Desserts :

  • Lemon Grass Pennacotta –

This invitingly yummy looking dessert is made with a lot of finesse and style. It has a sweetened cream mixed with gelatin and moulded. We decided to opt for the lemongrass flavour, which didn’t dilute the taste with the rest of the desserts.

  • Tom Tim Krub –

I must admit, this was the first time I tasted this amazing ball of a dessert. It is a coconut milk based dessert and is very popular among Thais. This is their go to drink in hot weathers. The pinkish floating jewels you see atop are actually water chestnuts, covered with tapioca flour, served with sweetened coconut milk and shaved ice. We couldn’t have enough of this.

  • Steam Lotus Bun

These extra cute and fluffy looking babies are extraordinary. They are a must have at all Chinese bakeries and they sell like hot cakes. This confection went right in my must have it again list. The sweet made from lotus flower seeds has a chestnut like flavour.

How I wish I could stay there forever and be a part of this food coma I was in post every meal. The Deltin, Daman has my heart racing every single time!!
