NY Fashion Week Collection By Archana Kochhar

Mumbai, 10^th Sept 2015 : This was a very elite and fashionable event which saw the ace designer Archana Kochhar, give us a delightful and exclusive preview into her New York Fashion Week Spring Summer 2016 Collection called – “Ahimsa Resama”. Natasha Suri (Former Miss India) and Simran Kaur Mundi (Starring in the upcoming movie Kis Kis ko Pyar Karu) officially unveiled the first look of this enthralling collection, which is all set to be showcased at the FLT MODA New York Fashion Week associated with Mercedes Benz on 13^th September 2015. I got the opportunity to chat up with this creative genius Archana Kochhar, who is the heart and soul behind this special collection, which is called – “Ahimsa Resama”. This is because the collection designed using “Ahimsa Silk” which is commonly also known as “Peace Silk”. Archana Kochhar is definitely a woman with a cause and she whole heartily supports the “Make in India” campaign which has been kick started and driven by Mr. Modi himself. She has made the “Ahimsa Silk” campaign a part of this prestigious movement as I may call and she is actually putting this cause on a global level by making many people aware. When asked what is that one thing most special to her about Ahimsa Resama and what was the whole process like, this is what she had to say – “I have been working for a long time with all women weavers where the silk is cultivated to revolutionize this concept. I want to spread women empowerment and raise the standard of living and raise the wages of these women workers.Each and every fabric that you will see from my collection have been touched by more than atleast sixty hands of these hard working women weavers and it gives me such pleasure to present the collection which has also taken care of saving each silkworm in this process”.

She added – “It’s a privilege to be invited to one of the most privileged fashion weeks’ in the world, the New York fashion Week. It’s exciting to represent and showcase Indian fashion and fabric and promote the concept of “Make In India” at the Mecca of Fashion”.

For those of you wanting to know more, here are some cool insights to “Ahimsa Resama” – It is an amalgamation of global silhouettes with ethnic embroideries. The colour has been kept alongside the shades of beige and ivory with gold embellishments as you can see in the pictures too! You can also find traces of traditional gold zari work, Swarovski and some deep texturing detailing.

The spunky designer Archana Kochhar added towards the end – “This transformation has inspired me to incorporate hundreds of tiny silk moth wings and cocoons shape textures which are then bonded together in the form of intricate textural embroidery which is the focal element of the collection.
