Eid Mubarak Everyone!!!! On this occasion of Eid-Al-Fitr I pray for a better tomorrow with good health, love and success coming everyone’s way in every big way or small. May you get this Eid all that your heart desires and very importantly let there be LOVE!!! After a month of fasting, personally for me Ramadan is a way of reminding yourself to be a better person in every way possible and it really cleanses your mind, body and soul. These 30 days of fasting are full of sharing and solidarity. With each passing roza (fast), you need to remind yourself of so many who are hungry out there, homeless and helpless. Learn to do your bit and feel thankful and grateful for what you have. We should stick by Ramadan’s giving nature throughout the year and this feeling of gratefulness and helpfulness should stay with you forever. Time to make this world a better place right??
Celebrating Eid also means getting together of families, happy giggles and smiles and forgotten conversations that just fill the house. My childhood Eids consisted of distributing the sweets and sheerkurma amongst the orphan kids and bringing a smile to someones face who probably is a little less fortunate than us. Post that, we would finish with our meet and greet with the elders of the family and collect our “Eidy” without fail. Now that it is time for us to give Eidy to younger cousins and siblings, I realize how grown up we really are. (Just for a minute and then go back to being a kid :P).
It gives me so much joy that this Eid, I got to play dress up in a beautiful deep maroon coloured wrap-around kurti dress by the very talented “Shezeen Hyder”. Shezeen’s brand understands the need for designing outfits based on specific occasions, especially festivals like Eid. We all want to keep it simplistic yet charismatic when it comes to out Eid morning outfits since that calls for running around a lot, namaaz and meeting so many relatives, kind of hop skipping. This wrap-around kurti dress has an excellent flair and fall with a waterfall criss-cross right at the front that gives you an opportunity to be playful with your leggings or churidaars. Shezeen Hyder’s collection encompasses some handcrafted and tailor-made dresses that will be perfect for all your traditional wear needs and even weddings. Her inspiration comes from bringing a change in what she does. No wonder her designs are so full of life and chic. I added some cut-out black leggings from Stalk Buy Love to this look.
I love adding in a touch of contrasting colours wherever I can. So this time around, there were not one, not two but three colour pops adding in some finishing touches to my Eid look. First up is a gold and blue mint coloured tassels neckpiece by Perfekshan Designs, which has such a boho vibe to it. I swear this was love at first sight. The next contrasting colour is my minty blue shimmer nail paint and the third addition is my mint coloured heels. Simple tricks that break the monotony, actually glam up your look too. Always remember to break some rules now and then while dressing up and I am sure you will be happy with the end result.
My Eid this year, like always is going to be spent with my loved ones, all smiles and dolled up and within each moment there are so many blessings and eternal gratitude for being where I am, able to do what I do and most importantly – being HAPPY!!! Spend time with your loved ones, give them a big fat hug and tell them you LOVE THEM!!! Eid Mubarak meri jaan!! <3
