It doesn’t get any grander than this when the most loved and a leading fashion designer gets down to design a Spring-Summer collection that is inspired by nature. Ladies and Gents, I am at short of words here to describe the stunning designs that were presented by none other than Manish Malhotra on the opening show for the Spring-Summer 2016 Collection for the Lakme Fashion Week. This time around, the designs presented were special than ever and the true showman couturier himself held these really close to his heart for more reasons than one.
The theme for the opening collection was inspired by “Elements” and elements has a very special place in Manish Malhotra’s life and career too. As you can see in the pictures too, this was a perfect amalgamation of technology and fashion on one platform. Just like the LYF smartphones that are derived from these four important natural elements like –Earth, Water, Wind and Flame, the collections also stood in sync with these forces of nature. Manish Malhotra’s Spring-Summer 2016 Collection for the opening show of Lakme Fashion Week boasted of a perfect combination of glam quotient and a fairytale. All the designs were breathtakingly beautiful and it was one lavish affair. Right from the set-up that was soaked in the powerful forces of nature to the intricate detailing on the designs, everything was soaked in the goodness and power of “Elements”. His designs had some soothing pastel hues that gradually moved to cool earthy blues and greens. You can get a glimpse of the beautifully amalgamated contemporary elements with traditional Indian silhouettes. This was an absolute dreamy affair, which also saw some head turner capes, lehengas and floaty trains that were jaw droppingly beautiful and trendy. Arjun Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernandez were the showstoppers for the “Elements” Collection and they were also paired together for the very first time. Arjun Kapoor was seen in a sherwani that was very rich in both texture, colour combination and it was in a darker hue of navy blue. While Jacqueline looked stunning in a light pink lehenga.
I am soo excited for the next 5 days of non-stop fashion dope and some trends that I actually look forward to. Plus combining beauty and design with technology was not only a treat to the eye but the need of the hour!! Kudos to LYF smartphones for coming up with such an interesting and an innovative concept that is going to change the face of fashion during this year’s Lakme Fashion Week.
