The GQ Fashion Nights at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai
I was lucky enough to be a part of Day 1 madness of GQ Fashion Nights co-sponsored by OnePlus India that saw some jaw droppingly dapper styles with some intricate detailing for men and only men. Yes, these two nights put men in the spotlight and boy oh boy, they took the cake away and how. The men in spotlight as showstoppers for day 1 were Saif Ali Khan, Randeep Hooda and Kunal Kapoor. These were the designers who showcased their labour of love – Shantanu & Nikhil, Van Heusen, Troy Costa and Raghavendra Rathore.
Shantanu & Nikhil – This terrific duo highlighted “The Cabinet Mission 1946” through their designs. Right from layering options to cropped waistcoats and a revised Nehru era stood firmly with their body of work on that night. I had goose bumps when the national anthem was played towards the end of the show and they did receive a standing ovation.
Van Heusen – Make way for the men of today with some slim fitted separates, funky pocket prints and printed umbrellas. Kunal Kapoor walked towards the end looking dapper as ever in a very stylish bow-tie and a hat.
Troy Costa – This collection was a complete package for the man of today with some bold prints in polka and checks. Randeep Hooda cause a stir in the hearts of many when he walked as a show stopper for Troy Costa, with a burst of colour and looking every bit of the “CLASSIC MAN”.
Raghavendra Rathore – The Imperial India Collection was everything a grand affair needs. Setting the stage on fire in his Nawabi charm was a man with royal blood himself and a Bollywood Star Saif Ali Khan.
Post every 2 shows, OnePlus India were handing over their phones to the designers as a sign of taking forward the excellence and creativity that they showcase through their work. The OnePlus India phone set up saw both OnePlus X and Oneplus 2 phones for everyone to try their hands on. We saw everyone right from Ranveer Singh to PrateekBabbar, DiyaMirza etc. going gaga over these phones.
The second day of Van Heusen GQ India Fashion Nights had some energies soaring the temperatures through the roof with some on-point collections presented by Rajesh Pratap Singh, Van Heusen, Antar-Agni, Dhruv Kapoor, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna. The designers made sure that they strike a perfect balance between well groomed men and sophisticated and stylish ladies in suits.
Rajesh Pratap Singh as you can see in the pics stood in sync ikat checks, metallic and white layering. Van Heusen’s collection was all about classy dressing up for some serious business. Antar Agni (Ujjwal Dubey) had a perfect symphony of transformation from grey shades into solid black. Dhruv Kapoor played well with winter fabrics and made sure that colour-blocked shirts do the talking.
Ranveer Singh gave a grand finish to the last day of GQ Fashion Nights as he waked in Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna’s design. The small but friendly jig done by him on the runway was not to be missed out on.
Just like the day 1, on day 2 as well, OnePlus India presented the designers with their super savvy and superbly stylish looking phones to the designers of the GQ Fashion nights. Just like the designers themselves, OnePlus too stands in unison with an excellent exterior and an even faster processor that never lets you down.
