FAD International Academy is counted in one of the top 5 Fashion Schools of India and it churns out some of the most talented designers. So, it goes without saying that I was super thrilled when I got to know that I was invited to cover the latest exhibit of the designs called Gen Next, presented by their students at the launch of their newest campus at Pali Naka, Bandra. FAD International Academy saw a huge turn out of an impressive guest list right from fashion stylists, designers, diamond traders, photographers, make-up and hair artists, creative agency heads, models and of course few of the bloggers including mua.
FAD International Academy is India’s Premier Liberal Creative Arts & Design Institution that honors International education in academic partnerships with leading European Art & Design Universities. Their Pune Campus is very famous for some competitive designs and styles including designers that are known for arts, designs, retail marketing and photography. This varied and funky mix of collection showcasing at the Bandra branch, saw a mix of monochrome and some bold colours – red being a hot favourite. I personally loved the overtaking of white as that colour clearly ruled the night. Shades that transformed into so many different looks from party to punk, along with merging of greys into darker shades of grey and eventually leading into black tones also were spotted. As you can see in the pictures, “An Evening With The Samurai’s Collection” got the crowd cheering with so much happy energies around. Right from the messy grunge buns to black silhouettes, and leather carry alls, everything about the designs showcased by the students were classy, upbeat and funky cool.

The capes also stood out along with some lacy materials mixed with hints of nets. The campus was transformed into a ramp that gave the on-lookers a peek into their world where designs take actual forms as drawn with their hearts on a paper. I liked the informal set-up where the crowd was in the middle of the room, while the models strutted in the designs across the 4 sides of the room. This I believe added such a dramatic and a personal touch to the entire showcasing. A special thank you to OneSoul for making this event a big hit by being hands on from start to finish. It always is a pleasure to support, witness and be a part of an initiative that comes out in support of new talent and provides a platform for them to showcase the same.
