When one talks about a Maharashtrian bride, lots of colours and elegance are what pops right into anyone’s head. With some traditional gold jewellery, green bangles and a deep pink saree with contrast borders, is the ultimate treat to every eye for the wedding ceremony. I have attended a lot of Maharashtrian weddings myself and it gives me immense joy to jot down the makeup and the hair breakdown for you girls. Starting with hair first, here are the easy steps to follow –

  • Divide your flicks or your hair on the front into two parts through a mid-parting.
  • Tie the back section into a ponytail that isn’t too high.
  • Add a donut bun for the hair updo around your ponytail. The ponytail should be divided to further twist it around the donut bun easily.
  • Try keeping the excess hair tucked right under the bun with bobby pins.
  • The front parting paves a perfect way for your chaandtikas. Try to opt for a bigger maangtika and Sahibba has further tied a thread towards the end so that you can tie it around your bun to secure it firmly.
  • Back-comb the flicks and twist them slightly to tuck away the hair at the front around the bun.
  • Use a hair spray at the end, to keep the hair in check.

This is an easy and a simple guide to get the elegant Maharashtrian bride hairdo in a jiffy. Add these makeup tips to complete the look:

  • Once you are done with the base, seal it with HD powder on and around your eyes. Sahibba always likes to start off with the eye makeup first so that the excess eye makeup falls out and doesn’t ruin your base.
  • Fill in the brows and give it a natural and a balanced finish.
  • Use a champagne coloured highlighter under the arch of your eyes.
  • For the perfect smoky eyes look, use fuller lashes, liner and blend in a darker shade right at the corner of your eyes with any other lighter palette you choose.
  • Don’t forget to wipe off the excess eye shadow that may have fallen onto the cheeks or in the under eye area.

  • She keeps the concealer and foundation right till the end, once the eye make-up is fully done.
  • Complete your makeup with an HD finishing powder and don’t forget to cover the neck area to match the face.
  • Contour those cheekbones with a lighter peach shade and use a light pink matt finish lipstick for the lips.

A signature Chaand Bindi should be just fine to complete the Maharashtrian Bridal look.
