Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive 2016 Day 5 was all about a Grand ending to India’s biggest fashion showcasing. U will get to know my personal favourites through this article and I have also tried to sum up the last day for you all in the best way possible. This season like always few trends struck a chord with us and few enchanted us right from the beginning. Right from the new designers to the masters of the craft, everyone has definitely upped their game for the Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive 2016 showcasing.
Ridhi Mehra
The day kick started with Ridhi Mehra’s designs. Her magical collection was named ‘Arcadia’ that embodies all shades of teal green with hints of ivory, black, navy and my favourite cabernet pink. Bollywood beauty and a diva herself, Ileana D’Cruz walked the ramp for her as a showstopper and she looked jaw droppingly beautiful in a brown lehenga with long floor length chiffon embellished cape and a gold embroidered blouse.
Swati Vijaivargie
Swati Wijaivargire’s collection was straight out of a painting. It was heavily inspired by the Rajasthan’s Pichwai paintings. You can see the base colour black surrounded by hints of mint, crimson, onion pink and beige colours. I am in love with their “Shibori” prints and the antique Marodi Embroidery set against pure silk.
Vineet Rahul
This talented designer duo presented us with their latest collection “Lakshmi” for their label “Charcoal”. Loose fitted clothed mixed with fluid silhouettes like overcoats, kimonos, blazers, etc were crafted using hand-woven raw silks and also using chanderi silks. These designs have to be my personal favourites from this day.
Anushree Reddy
‘The Wedding Chronicle’ by Anushree Reddy was all about the new-age girl that classifies her own glamour with minimalistic fashion. Hues of yellow, rani pink, fiery red and tangerine ruled her designs and they did justice to each and every design showcased. Our own desi girl “Shilpa Shetty” walked the ramp as a showstopper looking stunning as ever in a golden embroidered scalloped zardosi lehenga.
Amoh by JADE
True to the meaning of the word “Itvara” which means a traveller saw some excellent traditional craftsmanship on feminine silhouettes. Pooja Hegde walked the ramp as a showstopper in a monochrome outfit.
SVA by Sonam and Paras Modi
A mix of royal and classy affair, which saw a merger of so many beautiful colours. Check out the trendy off-shoulder cape blouse donned by the lovely and petite Prachi Desai in hues of royal green and blue.
Little Shilpa
Little Shilpa showcased a style file for the plus sized. We loved her high street take on the daily athletic and casual wear. The use of denim on denim was wearable fashion and a safe bet.
Kunal Rawal
Kunal Rawal’s collection titled “Role play” encompassed 2D silhouettes of roses and marigolds in abstract designs. He covered the staples as well as introduced shorter versions of Pathani Kurtas and Sherwanis in an elite manner. We loved his charcoal and olive colour pallets. The dapper looking Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor walked the ramp for him as the showstopper in his playful and chirpy best.
The Hamleys Show Styled by Diesel
One fun filled and highly energetic showcasing curated for the kids by Diesel at the Hamleys Show. We loved how cute and total adorbs Emraan Hashmi and his son Ayaan looked in their coordinated outfits. They also wore the trendy grey stone bleached denims with cool leather jackets. All the on-lookers were happily cheering and clapping throughout the show.
Sanjukta Dutta
Bipasha Basu looked absolutely glamorous in the colourful silk threads from Assam. We liked how Sanjukta Dutta played with the different draping styles of the sarees.
Sumona Parekh
Sophie Choudry walked as a showstopper for Sumona Parekh’s show that showcased designs influenced by our religious and social customs in India.
Architha Narayanam
Dil le gayi le gayi girl Karisma Kapoor wore a red asymmetrical gown as she walked as a showstopper for Architha Narayanam’s collection.
Saroj Jalan –
Saroj Jalan’s showcasing “Gulzar” was influenced by Aamir Khusro’s beautiful poem. The use of velvets hand woven tusser silks and zardozi added a classic element to all her designs. Radhika Apte walked the ramp for Saroj Jalan.
Tulsi Silks
Diya Mirza walked the ramp as a showtopper for “Tulsi Silks” as they showcased their beautiful collection called the ‘Woven Tales of Kanchipuram’. The 6-yard Kanchivaram weaves were beautifully showcased in a range of colours and patterns that appealed to different styles. The range was divided into mini-collections like ‘The gold animal’, ‘The revival’ and ‘The gold bridal’ among others. Sabyasachi
This was the Grand Finale of Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive 2016. Sabyasachi’s collection was all about 70’s decadence and royal in every form. This show officially was the highlight of the entire Lakme fashion Week Winter Festive 2016. The begum of Bollywood set the entire stage ablaze with her presence as the glowing mom to be with a cute baby bump walked the ramp as a dazzling showstopper with a lehenga that matched the colour of her eyes. The designs consisted of kaftans, shift dresses and velvet slip dresses with exquisite handwork embroidery and vintage floral motifs. Right from the ambience to the chandelier-lit stage everything about this showcasing was regal and artistic. The live music was performed by the Symphony Orchestra of India, which added to the grandness of the show.
And lastly here is my look from Day 5 with a elegant dress from Karleo Fashion, Necklace from OPA Accessories, Shoes from Lavie World & Glares from Label Kiss. Stay tuned for my entire Lakme Fashion Week 2016 Lookbook.
