A combination of The Leela and Fratelli Wines is beyond royal and this was one such aristocratic wine soiree held at Jamavar Restaurant in Mumbai. Fratelli Wines is the finest and a premium Indian wine brand, which stands for their consistent and A-Class quality wines. Their fondness amongst fine wine lovers is a known fact and it comes no surprise that they are the second most distributed wine brand in India currently. We got to learn some interesting facts from the Wine Master himself, Mr. Craig W Wedge, Brand Director at Fratelli Wines about Fratelli Wines as they have found their perfect vineyards spot at the heart of Maharashtra in Sholapur.
For this regal evening, Chef Surender Mohan who is a Corporate Chef at The Leela Palaces Hotels & Resorts had planned some special Indian delicacies for us that were divided over a grand 7-Course meal that complimented the Indo-Italian Fratelli wines wonderfully. So the combination of hand picked Fratelli Wines with the classic Indian Cuisine was totally divine!

Tulsi Jheenga – These were clay-baked prawns, marinated with holy basil. You could taste the clay mixed with the prawns.
Shami Kebabs – Any Indian cuisine is incomplete without adding to it the grandness of minced lamb patties.
Dhaniya Tamatar Shorba – The fresh coriander and tomato soup was served to us in a cute clay pot but for regular visitors and dinners, the potions are way bigger so don’t fret.
Alleppey Meen Curry With Steamed Brown Rice – My favourite of the night was this – a pomfret curry cooked in rich and thick coconut milk, green chillies and raw mangoes. Reminded me of the coastal curries from Kerala.
Murgh Badami Korma With Bajrey Ki Roti – You could make out with the aroma itself that this chicken curry is enriched with figs and almonds paste. It went so well with the super thin Bajre ki roti.
Gosht Ki Nihari – Lamb shanks and chops are left overnight to get the traditional gosht ki nihari, which was perfect with the ulta tawa parathas.
Daal Jamavar – This is a special daal at Jamavar, which is a slow simmered daal with black lentils, tomato and fresh cream.
Kathal Ki Biryani – I had heard so much about Kathal ki Biryani but never got around to tasting it. Thanks to The Leela, I can now say, my favourite chicken biryani has a new competition with this. The raw jackfruit pieces were perfectly cooked adding a certain sweet quotient to the aromatic basmati rice.
The Desserts:
Malai Ghewar –A traditionally made honeycomb style malai ghewar that was covered with dry fruits.
Chum Chum – Another favourite dessert from West Bengal, which ended our royal dinner in style.

The process of refining and making Fratelli Santo is so difficult and left completely to Mother Nature to nurture it. They have not been able to make it since 2005 and this was the only batch of 1000 barrels which is not sold and can be tasted only at such aristocratic parties or if you visit their vineyards at Solapur.
