Our Iftaari At Tiqri, Taj Santacruz

Ramadan is a special occasion for us as it brings along hopes and also reminds us to give back in every way possible, whether small or big. The 3 a.m. waking up for Sehri and making it back home by 7 p.m. everyday for Iftaari so that the entire family can be together is super special for me because the rest of the year, we might end up eating at different timings but not during this month. So we were super excited when we heard about one of the best iftaaris in town by Taj Santacruz at their Tiqri Restaurant. They have a set menu that has been specially crafted keeping in mind the rozdaar’s (the person who fasts) needs at the end of the day for a very important meal of the day!!!

Tiqri (3)

Tiqri is a Global Cuisine Restaurant and it is by far one of the most magical dining set-ups we have ever laid our eyes on. With a huge golden and shining “Tree Of Life” in our backdrop and a serene ambience, we were all set for our Iftaari. So here is the lavish spread from the Special Iftaar Menu at Tiqri, Taj Santacruz :

Tiqri (1)

Rose Falooda – Now this is one Falooda with a twist. The twist is the paan ice-cream mixed in your faloodas. You have to try this if you are a big paan fan like me.

Tiqri (10)

Khus Sherbet – This drink is a must have for the cooling effect it has on your digestive system and it goes so well with the bhajjias.

Tiqri (12)

Assorted Fresh Fruits & Dates Basket – A cutely set basket with the fruits of your choice along with the most quintessential fruit of Ramdan – Dates!!

Tiqri Iftar Starters :

Tiqri (8)

Chicken  Tikka Tart – We just loved these little bites of heaven. The Chicken with spring onions in tart form made for the perfect crunchy and spicy starter.

Tiqri (7)

Gilafi Seekh Kebab – A lamb seekh tossed in pudina chutney and wrapped in super small tandoor rotis. Now this is how we like our Iftaar meals – serve us with some sass!!!

Tiqri (11)

Mixed Bhajjias – Different kinds of bhajjias topped with chaat masala. We loved the paneer and brinjal bhajjias since they tasted different than the regular onion ones.

Tiqri (13)Mezze Platter – Hummus, Tabbouleh & Babaganoush are the Mediterranean love served in three parts with the softest pita breads.

Tiqri Main Course :

Tiqri (5)

Chicken Tikka Biryani – This dum biryani was very much in sync to my daadi’s cooking style when the families of both sides get together for Eid feasts. Spicy and not oily at all.

Tiqri (6)

Khichda – Now this is one dish that is made at our place a lot but since it has bones too, you really need to be a khichda fan to enjoy it. But at Tiqri, the boneless Khichda tasted better than when cooked with bones. (Yes, I said it :D)

Tiqri Iftar Desserts :Tiqri (4)

We tasted Kesari Phirnee, Kala Jamun and Baklava for desserts and we are having a hard time highlighting our most favourite one!! 😛

With Iftaaris like these, we look forward to the next Sehri!! Afterall, nothing lifts up your moods like some of the best traditionally cooked Iftaar meals! This is why one can never go wrong with TAJ.
