Day 2 – Candle Light Barbeque At The Deltin Daman

The day 2 barbeque dinner at The Deltin Daman was both a surprise and an unforgettable experience. We were actually going to order room service for the night when the head chef requested us to come to the main restaurant for dinner as they had made something special for us. As we walked towards their main dining area, we saw a beautiful white flower set up by the pool with a quaint little table for two and some dimly lit lights around. As we walked by, Chef Mayur, the head chef told us that this special set up of a candle light dinner was planned of us. This was the perfect ending to the awesome day 2 at The Deltin Daman.

The theme of the special dinner was “Barbeque”, so we had a live barbeque set-up and a mini-bar right next to the pool itself. The best part about this is, you could select the barbeque for yourself right from the vast varieties of fishes, veggies and also opt for chicken or lamb meat with the sauce of your choice. I was in love with their barbequed potatoes that just tasted heavenly and went with any and every dish. This works as a great side dish.

So we started off with the “Smoked House Salad” which was a salad specially infused with the smoke of special wood with a smoke gun. The wood types for the taste of smoked wood were that of apple, hickory, celery and mesquite. And the method with which the chefs did this was keeping an upside down glass over the salad, infusing the salad with a wood shot by lifting the glass a little and then again leaving the glass on for a while for the flavours to merge with the salad. I have never had such an interesting barbeque dish ever. This was a BIG HIT with the both of us. Plus towards the end, you get these mixed wood smoked flavours that make you want more of the Smoked House Salad!

For the drinks we ordered – A Virgin Mohito & A Cranberry Delight

We selected our barbeques from a mix of chicken, prawns, pomfret, lamb chops with some cottage cheese. These were marinated with the New Orleans Cajun spice and Carolina Mustard, which gave a very tangy yet a very sweet and sour mixed taste. It also contained the sweet and smokey, piripiri lemon grass and kafir lime. All this was topped with a spicy Mexican seasoning. You could request on the spot for the seasonings as per your tastes and preferences since this was a live barbeque. I opted for some potatoes and some veggies with the same seasoning and it tasted yummilicious.

This super special Candle Light Dinner by the pool, ended with a Mango Saffron Pannacotta. This dessert was topped with some blueberries with a sweet sauce that mixed with the mango flavour to give a very unique tasting pannacotta.

I enjoyed the night so much, that I would want to go back to this particular night with the same set-up, same food and same person again in 2016!!! Here’s to many more of these!
