As we strolled on the streets New York on a snowy day, finding a truck lined up right next to the entrance for some warm cocoa and lattes was every fashionista’s pit stop before heading inside. I love how the streets of New York come to life in a vibrant and colorful way from the otherwise all shades black pattern during New York Fashion Week. This time around, both me and Salman were supremely lucky and privileged to be a part of the New York Fashion Week AW 2018 and to also be the only “Indian Blogger” to represent our country.
I particularly took the time out to attend WWD Style Dimension, which is a kick-ass two-day series of panel discussions, talks and curated programming with the leaders and different spokespersons affiliated with fashion or beauty in any way. Samsung has done a terrific job of partnering with NYFW when it comes to talking about my favorite crossroads – fashion & technology. These two things will always go hand-in-hand and boy was I happy or what to just take everything in and pinch myself that YESSS this is actually happening. It is true that good things come to you when you least expect it, until then just keep on hustling. This was just one of those things girl!!
This one of a kind technology meets fashion curation is enjoyed by fashion enthusiasts like myself from across the world only at WWD’s Style Dimension at Samsung 837 during New York Fashion Week. I love how Arthur Zaczkiewicz, Executive Editor of Strategic Content Development at WWD moderated the discussion about the evolution of retail – “Creating the Ideal Consumer Connection and Experience,” with panelists Zach Overton, Vice President of Customer Experiences at Samsung and General Manager of Samsung 837 and Uri Minkoff, CEO of Rebecca Minkoff. Both of them discussed and highlighted their importance of having the best recall value whilst striving to form strong and true connections with various consumers. Also, it is a fact that today’s retail environment is ever changing. I loved the very fact that Samsung as such a leading global brand is taking the efforts and initiative of going beyond their products. It is about the narrative and storytelling that we create said Overton. Samsung plans on focussing on a two-way conversation with consumers with constant interactions.
I totally agree with both Minkoff and Overton on what they said about brand behaviors including luxury brands as well. They highlighted the very fact that brands need to connect with their audiences first in order to serve as better lifestyle brands!!!!
And this fashion showcasing at New York Fashion Week AW 2018 Day 1, was one such step towards creating that innovative approach towards bringing forth a merger of fashion and technology in a most unique way possible. Have a look at these designs for yourself. I love the bold silhouettes and these color palettes can be held onto all the way into spring-summer too!!!
This definitely was my most favorite part of the day 1 at New York Fashion Week AW 2018 this season. Also, it was such a breath of fresh air to spot so many of my favorite international brands all under one roof partnering in a grand way with New York Fashion Week AW 2018 like – Tresemme, Papyrus, Michael Todd Beauty, Kate Spade, Lexus & many more!!!
I loved getting pampered by these brands and also got the opportunity to try and test out so many of my favorite products on the spot!! I really enjoyed testing out the latest sonic blend technology in their makeup brushes by Micheal Todd Beauty which is now available with some of the quirkiest prints and designs.
Oh NYFW 2018, you were a classy affair!!!
